The Birth Photography Experience

Held, honored, witnessed.

Choosing to have your birth photographed is a powerful and sacred decision—one I hold with deep reverence. Here’s what to expect when we walk this journey together:

From 38 weeks until the moment your baby arrives, I am on call for you 24/7. This means I’ll keep my phone on, bags packed, and my heart attuned—ready to join you at any hour, day or night. I honor the rhythm of your labor and the uniqueness of your birth space, whether it unfolds at home, in a birth center, or at a hospital. Every birth is beautiful and worthy of being remembered.

Before your birth, we’ll meet either in person or via Zoom for a pre-birth consultation to connect, discuss your vision, and go over what moments you’d like documented—whether it’s the intensity of labor, the first time you hold your baby, or the quiet magic of your partner’s support. This session also helps us build trust and alignment, so you feel grounded and comfortable when the time comes.

When labor begins, I ask to be contacted early, but I’ll arrive when you’re in active labor—typically around 5–6 cm dilated—or earlier if you tend to progress quickly. I’ll quietly and respectfully join your birth space, tuning in to your energy and intentions. I approach birth photography with presence and gentleness—like an attentive witness, blending into the background while holding space and capturing the raw beauty of your experience. I can also offer loving support if you wish—whether that’s a quiet affirmation, holding space, or simply being another calm energy in the room.

I stay through the birth and 1–2 hours after your baby arrives, capturing golden moments: first cries, skin-to-skin, the first feeding, partner bonding, and all those fleeting, sacred details that tell the story of your baby's arrival.

After your session, I carefully curate and edit a collection of 50–150 storytelling images, depending on how your labor unfolds. Your gallery will be delivered through a private online portal to view, download, and share.

💫 Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book with you?

Booking is easy and intentional. Simply head to the Booking Page and fill out the inquiry form with your due date and preferred package. I’ll personally respond within 24–48 hours to confirm availability and schedule our pre-birth consultation. A signed agreement and a deposit are required to reserve your on-call window.

🌕 When should I book my birth session?

I recommend booking as soon as possible to ensure I’m available for your birth window. I only accept a limited number of birth clients per month so that I can offer 24/7 on-call support from 38 weeks until baby arrives.

🌙 What does it mean that you're “on call” for my birth?

From 38 weeks onward, I’ll keep my phone on day and night, stay local, and be ready to leave for your birth at any hour. I’ll arrive once you’re in active labor (around 5–6 cm dilation) or sooner if your labors move quickly. I’ll remain with you until 1–2 hours after birth to capture first moments and bonding.

🏥 Do you photograph all types of births?

Yes. I honor all birth spaces and paths—home births, birth centers, hospitals, and cesarean births. If you’re birthing in a hospital, we’ll discuss policies about photography and OR access in our consultation. I adapt to your space, birth team, and wishes with deep respect.

👶 What moments will you capture?

I capture the full arc of your story—from laboring hands and tender support, to the powerful moment of birth, to those golden hours of bonding: first cry, first latch, first embrace. If you have special requests (e.g., siblings meeting, cord cutting), we’ll include them in your birth plan.

📸 How many photos will I receive?

Depending on the package and length of your birth, you'll receive 50–150 professionally edited images in a private online gallery. For maternity and newborn sessions included in the Full Package, you’ll receive 20 images per maternity and newborn session. You’re welcome to purchase additional images or prints/canvas if desired.

🌟 What if I go into labor early?

If labor begins before 38 weeks, and I’m available, I will still attend. If your birth is expected to be early (e.g., via induction or cesarean), we’ll tailor our on-call agreement to match your needs.

🕊 What happens if you miss the birth?

If I’m contacted late in labor or miss the birth due to its speed, I’ll still arrive for a post-birth storytelling session to capture bonding moments. If I miss the birth due to personal emergency or error, a full or partial refund/credit will be issued depending on the situation.

🤍 Will my photos be shared publicly?

Only with your explicit written permission. I take privacy seriously. Many families choose to keep their images private, while others feel empowered to share their story with others. You decide.

💗 Do you offer payment plans or sliding scale options?

Yes! I offer flexible payment plans for all families and reserve discounted birth packages each month for those with financial need. Please reach out—your story deserves to be documented, no matter your financial circumstances.
